Nationals, Red Sox to play exhibition at Naval Academy

I believe that’s a good thing. Again, the Hall of Fame isn’t the Hall of Saints. Baseball is a religion, but it isn’t a religion religion. It’s OK that our baseball heroes are flawed people. They’ve always been flawed people. It’s possible to romanticize the sport while maintaining a realistic understanding of who the players are. I happen to believe the Hall of Fame should reflect what baseball actually was, not some sanitized, idealized version that never actually existed. I don’t get Cheap Dodgers Jerseys the obsession with creating this alternate reality.

The Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox will meet in an exhibition game April 1 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., the first of a new three-year deal in which the Nats will play an annual “Naval Academy Baseball Classic” exhibition each spring, the Nationals announced Thursday.

Tickets for the special 2 p.m. ET game at Navy’s Max Bishop Stadium won’t be available to the public but instead will be distributed by the Nationals and Red Sox free of charge to Midshipmen and select members of the Navy. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

The Nationals’ opponents for the 2018 and ’19 exhibitions will be determined later, the team said.

The Braves and Marlins last season played a regular-season game July 3 at Fort Bragg, the first time a regular-season MLB game had been played at an active U.S. military installation.
