David Johnson likes idea of running behind a fullback

Cardinals coach Steve Wilks gave running back David Johnson a rave review for his work on the first day of OTAs on Tuesday and it’s hard to blame the exuberance given how important Johnson is to Wilks’ chances of success in his first year on the job.

Johnson gave a positive review of his own on Tuesday. Wilks and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy have plotted a different course than Arizona followed when Bruce Arians was in charge and one of their changes is to involve a fullback in the offense. Derrick Coleman was signed as a free agent this offseason and Johnson said he likes the idea of running behind him in the future.

At the NFL owners meetings in Atlanta, Kraft told reporters that he has been in contact with Brady and expects the quarterback to be at the team’s mandatory minicamp in June, despite Brady skipping voluntary OTAs for the first time in eight years.

But there’s one football skill Sherman still hasn’t figured out yet.

“I still can’t kick it through the uprights,” she quipped.

“There was obviously some stuff behind closed doors. Their owner talking sh-t to our owner. Bill talking sh-t to our head coach before the game. I’m not going to say it, but a lot of sh-t kind [of] built up to that, and I just got tired of hearing about it, man, to be honest.”

It’s unclear why Johnson would claim that Robert Kraft was “talking sh-t” to Jeffrey Lurie or that Belichick was “talking sh-t” to Doug Pederson. Whatever the reason or basis for that contention, beating the Patriots on the biggest stage in sports wasn’t enough for Johnson, because he’s still holding a grudge.

Prescott has a long way to go if has any hope of being compared to Cowboys greats Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman and Tony Romo, though the Pro Bowl quarterback is Cheap Atlanta Braves Jerseys off to a good start by winning Cheap Braves Jerseys 22 of his first 32 regular-season starts.

Would Julio Jones hold out of training camp for a new deal?

Falcons receiver Julio Jones reportedly will skip voluntary offseason workouts as he tries to get an adjustment to a deal that currently pays him far less than other less talented and accomplished receivers. If he doesn’t get the adjustment, what will he do?

With a contract that runs through 2020, Jones could have a hard time getting the team to rip up the deal and give him a new one now. As a result, he may have to take a real stand, making it clear that he won’t show up for anything until his $14.25 million annual average gets closer to market value that his current spot at No. 8 on the receiver pay scale.

At Shawnee, I only played half a season. I only played six games my senior year. I decided I want to play football in college and be recruited for football and now all the schools are coming because they know that I have another season under my belt and better timing, he said.

“For sure. I mean, I look at it as a great opportunity,” Hoyer said, via the team. “Obviously to get to know the guys that were here last year a little bit better and obviously get to know the new guys, too. I’ve been in other places where I’ve been the guy that’s responsible for leading, being that guy. So, for me, I come out every day and look at it as a great opportunity to get better.”

Hoyer was asked if he felt Brady’s absence created any distraction for the team as they go through OTAs. Hoyer said it wasn’t “in any way at all” because he’s just focused on his job, which is an answer that shows he knows more than just the way the offense runs in New England.

As NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Up to the Minute Live, the proposals have the potential to make kickoffs more exciting since they place limits on blocking schemes.

The proposals, if approved, would collectively represent the second significant change made this offseason to improve player safety. In March, team owners approved an expanded helmet-hit rule that penalizes players who lower Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys their heads and initiate contact on Cheap Professional Sports Jerseys an opponent with their helmets.

Takeaways from Yanks’ 3-2 win

Gleyber Torres was thrown out at home trying to score from second on Judge’s single, and Kelly then induced a ground ball back to the mound from Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius.

When I’m on the mound, it’s one of those things where I’m just worried about my pitching, Kelly said. “Focus on that. You don’t really see anything else.”

“It’s still the No Fly Zone,” Roby said. “We started that Super Bowl year, and we had a year that I don’t think has been seen in the league by a defense in the past 30-plus years. That original Fly Zone is gone, with AC Milan Cheap Jerseys T.J. departing and Talib departing. But we still got out there and Justin Simmons, he did great last year as a first-year starter. We’ll be fine.”

Roby started only four games and played 68.22 percent of the defensive snaps last season as the team’s third corner behind Talib and Chris Harris. Roby and the team believe he is ready to start.

“I just want to be better than I was last year,” Roby said. “I see myself as a guy that goes out there and Best Place To Get Cheap Jerseys balls hard, makes a lot of turnovers and that’s what I’ve always been my whole life. So I’m not really competing with anyone. I want to be the best, but I also want to be the best me and I want to take the ball away as much possible and just do my job and completely take guys away.”

Flowers was well on the block last weekend, but no one wanted to give a mid-round pick for the former No. 9 overall selection. So rather than roll him to the curb, they’ll just put him on the shelf with the tennis racket with the broken string from 1997 and the coffee pots that don’t work and the ceiling fan with a missing blade.

Flowers has been the one Giants player to stay away from all their voluntary workouts, and new coach Pat Shurmur said during an interview on WFAN that they’re just going to take a wait-and-see approach.

“This is a difficult time to talk about those kinds of things because it’s voluntary, I get that,’’ Shurmur said. “There’s enough on tape — things didn’t go very well last year for the Giants, but he played through the year and there’s enough on tape for me to see there’s talent there. So whenever he decides to come in, we’re looking forward to working with him. Hey, that’s just what it is.’’

The Giants are hoping to have him come in at some point and compete for the right tackle job, after replacing him with Nate Solder in free agency. They used their second-round pick on guard Will Hernandez, but aren’t in position to throw away something that might be of value.

Look, the guy isn’t ancient. But this has to be a consideration when evaluating the pick.

There isn’t a major issue with taking an older player when he is starter-ready immediately. There can be an issue with doing it when the player isn’t starter-ready immediately, especially when you select that player in the third round, though NFL.com projected Shepherd as a second rounder.

Let’s see where Shepherd falls on that readiness spectrum in 2018 and 2019 before we give a fair and final evaluation. It’s pretty clear that he needs to hurry up and prove himself in the NFL. His clock is ticking.

Bowles: I definitely believe he is a lot more pro ready than a lot of people think. When they say’raw,’ they don’t mean years away. He may need some weeks, or even camp or training camp, but he’ll definitely play in the rotation [on the defensive line.]. He’s got heavy hands, he’s quick off the ball, he stays low and he’s got a great drive.

The Browns are back on the clock with the No. 33 selection Friday at 7 p.m. ET, which will go until pick No. 100—currently held by the Cincinnati Bengals—comes off the board. Here is a look at how all 68 selections across the second and third rounds could shake out.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule by June. Gov. Phil Murphy  said New Jersey officials are preparing for the court  to rule in favor of the state.

Lawmakers and experts say if the court sides with New Jersey, it could make one of two rulings: One, overturning a 1992 federal ban on sports betting in all but four states, or two, allowing New Jersey to move forward with a law it passed allowing sports betting without state regulation.

Officials at Monmouth Park racetrack in Oceanport say they’d be ready to begin allowing bets as soon as two week after the ruling regardless of the decision.

The Seton Hall poll found men are more inclined to support legal sports betting, with 63 percent of Cheap Gaa Jerseys men and 47 Cheap Dri Fit Jerseys percent of women saying yes.

Mason Rudolph drafted No. 76 overall by Steelers

Pittsburgh has drafted a developmental quarterback for the second consecutive year.

The Steelers traded up with the Seahawks to select Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph with the No. 76 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Seattle received the Nos. 79 (Rasheem Green) and 220 overall picks as compensation.

He reminded me of Matt Ryan, one scout told BobMcGinnFootball.com. He’s calm, cool, collected, accurate. He’s faster than Ryan. Pocket passer. High three-quarters delivery. Excellent deep-ball accuracy. Good enough athlete. Not a runner. People are down on him but all he does for four years is win.

The 6-foot-1 wideout earned a second-team All-American honor in 2017 and was a Biletnikoff Award Finalist as one of the nation’s top receivers. The community college transfer Cheap Braves Jerseys compiled 2,685 yards and 21 TDs in two seasons at Colorado State, earning more than 1,200 yards each year.

Gallup owns a good combination of size and speed with an ability to high-point the ball, make difficult sideline catches, and plus run-after-catch acumen. Boasting quick feet, good hands and an ability to break off his route, Gallup can gain separation despite not having blazing speed.

His production is a little better this year but I thought his tape was a lot better because he’s learning how to really play the position, one NFC South scout told NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein. He has good size and he’s going to run well. I think he will keep getting better.

The Cowboys waited until the third-round to try and plug the Dez Bryant-sized hole in their receiving corps. Gallup could become one of the sleepers of the draft. The rookie joins Allen Hurns, Terrance Williams, Cole Besley and Deonte Thompson atop the Cowboys’ wideout group. Gallup could earn a big role right out of the gate in Dallas.

Roundtable: How the Washington Capitals can beat the Pittsburgh Penguins this time

Greg Wyshynski, senior NHL writer: Whoa, how crazy is it that the Penguins had their NHL franchise charter revoked in the middle of the playoffs, as that’s clearly the only way they could possibly lose a series to the Capitals? Wait, they didn’t?

Chris Peters, NHL prospects writer: First, I’d have to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating. After that, I’d probably learn that Holtby, with some restored confidence after four consecutive victories against the Columbus Blue Jackets, was at the top of his game. His.932 career save percentage in the postseason hasn’t necessarily helped a ton against Pittsburgh in previous years, but this time it’s enough, especially if Penguins goalie Matt Murray’s numbers continued to dip.

The Capitals would need big performances from their depth players to bolster the expected production from their top guys like Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov and John Carlson, who had been so strong against Columbus and continued to be threatening against Pittsburgh.

Four are transfers, one hasn’t started — and might not start for his current school. One more suffered a serious injury, his season in question pending an NCAA decision. There are a lot of question marks with this group before we even get to the film.

Sporting News college football writers Bill Bender and Zac Al-Khateeb and NFL writers Vinnie Iyer and Tadd Haislop voted on their top 10 for next season. Here’s the group we came up with heading into 2019:

Fitzgerald doubles as a punishing runner (2,486 rushing yards, 33 touchdowns) and an improving passer for the Bulldogs, but the career completion percentage (55.4) needs a lot of work. Fitzgerald is big (6-5, 230 pounds), and it will be interesting to see what kind of bump he gets from a year with new coach Joe Moorhead.

This is a tough one. Teammate Dwayne Haskins could just as easily be in this spot next season. Burrow, however, needs a chance to play at either Ohio State — or another Cheap Bruins Jerseys spot, potentially. When he does, Burrow is going to show why he deserves a shot at the next level. There’s potential for a Mitchell Trubisky-like move up the board.

Thorson suffered a torn ACL in the Music City Bowl, and his status for this season remains a question mark. He’s mobile, excels at throwing the football out of the pocket and has prototypical NFL size (6-4, 225). Some other boards will have Cheap Chelsea Jerseys him higher on their list.
