The Atlanta Falcons entered Sunday’s game with huge holes at the wide receiver position. Julio Jones was already lost for the year with a foot injury, and Roddy White was ruled out with hamstring and ankle issues. That left it down to Harry Douglas as the No. 1 receiver, but he’s making the most of his opportunity Cheap Old NBA Jerseys against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At halftime, Douglas is shredding the Buccaneers’ defense, recording six catches for 140 yards and a touchdown. His big first half was highlighted by a 37-yard score, in which he broke wide open and made an easy catch from Matt Ryan.

Douglas has spent several years serving as Atlanta’s No. 3 receiver behind Jones and White, and has never had a real chance to step up until this week. He may not continue this torrid pace with the Falcons nursing a 24-10 lead, but they are sure to be pleased with his efforts on Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs lead the Houston Texans, 14-10, at the halftime mark in Sunday’s Week 7 matchup.

The Texans went with Case Keenum as their starter this week over Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates. Keenum has been surprisingly effective so far, completing 8-of-12 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, hooking up with DeAndre Hopkins on a 27-yard score.

Points have been hard to come by so far. The Chiefs took an early lead on a 1-yard run by Jamaal Charles, but have otherwise struggled to move the ball against Houston’s defense. They did manage to take the lead at the end of the first half, when Alex Smith led them on a 15-play, 97-yard drive that ended with a quarterback keeper to give them the lead.

Houston’s running game is a major concern. Arian Foster left the game Cheap Old School NBA Jerseys with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out. Ben Tate does have 49 yards on 11 carries.

David Baas left Monday’s game early in the first quarter due to an MCL injury, according to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News.

Baas missed a significant portion of the NFL Jerseys From China preseason and the regular season opener due to a previous MCL injury and Monday’s injury is in the same knee. According to the report, Baas was scheduled to undergo a MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the latest injury.

“But I’m just trying to stay positive and get healthy again. I mean, I can’t catch a break, man,” Baas said, via the New York Daily News.

If the injury forces Baas out of the lineup, Jim Cordle will likely replace him in the lineup. Cordle has started three games this season.

This season was different, though. The Bears have three great targets in the passing the game in Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Bennett, the type of big pass catchers Cutler always called for. The line was solid. Trestman’s playcalling was world’s better than anything Mike Tice, Mike Martz or Ron Turner ever did. Cutler was playing the best football of his Bears tenure on an expiring contract. It would be a shock if he didn’t return the Bears next year, but the groin injury certainly throws a wrench into negotiations.

It’s Cutler’s third serious injury in five seasons, on top of two concussions he’s sustained. He just can’t catch a break, and with it neither can the Bears. Cutler is sublimely talented and should rewrite the Bears’ paltry passing record books, but somehow Sid Luckman — who through his first pass in 1939 — continues his stranglehold as the best quarterback in franchise history. It’s truly sad.

Injuries to Bears quarterbacks are nothing new. In Nike NFL Jerseys 2014 the ’80s, the Bears had two promising seasons destroyed when Jim McMahon was taken out.

The Cleveland Browns are struggling through another season.

For a moment this year, it seemed the Cheap NFL Jerseys Paypal Browns were onto something with Brian Hoyer at quarterback. After the team traded a former first-round pick, running back Trent Richardson, for a future first-round pick, it looked like the tank job was underway.

With all this, Sam Bradford has remained classy beyond his years, and it’s why – when he was injured – Rams fans took it so very hard, and rightly so. This season, he came out of the starting blocks like the rest of the team. Young, talented and excitable to the point that blocking the front or back of an opposing player was all one, the team had growing pains. When the team faltered, the crush of fan dismay fell on Bradford’s wide shoulders.

Surely the reason ROOKIE Tavon Austin hasn’t score 38 touchdown in the first weeks of the season was that over-hyped, over-paid, Sam Bradford? How hard is to catch the ball? It must be that damn un-elite bastard at quarterback? Taken in stride with all he’s been through to date, Sam looked reporters squarely in the eyes and said his team would get better, and never threw a teammate under the bus for miscues. He believes in his team and coaches, and I can’t help but think it’s why guys like Harvey Dahl went nuts when his young field general lay writhing in pain on the sidelines this past Sunday.

This injury to a young man Rams fans all like, respect and admire, hit them hard. It should, because Sam Bradford is the kind of goofy kid we all like and want to call friend.

The Rams play host to the Seattle Seahawks in a division game on Monday Night Football next week. The Panthers get the opposite of long rest and head to Tampa Bay to take on the winless Blue Jays Cheap Jerseys Buccaneers in Thursday Night Football.

Four teams – including the San Francisco 49ers which will likely open as chalk of two touchdowns or more – face double-digit spreads in Week 8, and two more could join the fun this week.

The New Orleans Saints are laying 13 points at home to the Buffalo Bills, while the Denver Broncos, despite a Week 7 loss, are a 14-point favorite against the Washington Redskins. The Seattle Seahawks are huge 11.5-point road favorites at the St. Louis Rams in the Monday Night contest, while San Francisco is expected to open around -16 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

The Kansas City Chiefs, at 7-0, are the only remaining unbeaten team. They are a nine-point favorite early Tuesday over the struggling Cleveland Browns, and many experts predict that spread will balloon to double digits.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers visit the Minnesota Vikings in a game that remained off the board early Tuesday. The Vikings looked terrible on Monday night against the New York Giants and open as double-digit home dogs.

The week kicks off with another big road favorite. The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers get seven points at home opposing the Carolina Panthers.

After staying in the Intensive Care Unit, it was determined Finley suffered a spinal cord bruise. Finley has since regained full movement throughout his body, although there Cheap Jerseys To Design is no timetable for his return.

The Chicago Bears also lost two very important members of their team. Quarterback Jay Cuter tore a groin muscle in Chicago’s 45-41 loss to the Washington Cheap Jerseys Throwback Redskins, putting him out for at least four weeks. Linebacker Lance Briggs is also out 4-6 weeks after hurting his shoulder.

For the Detroit Lions, left tackle Riley Reiff (hamstring) and right tackle Corey Hilliard (knee) both had to leave the game against the Cincinnati Bengals at various times. It is unknown if either will miss games going forward. Cornerback Rashean Mathis also had to leave after re-aggravating a groin injury.

2017 Valspar Championship results: Adam Hadwin holds off Patrick Cantlay for 1st PGA Tour win

With a four-shot advantage coming into Sunday, Adam Hadwin had about all the comfort one could possibly have while sleeping on a lead. The one problem? He’d still have to navigate the Snake Pit to grab that first win.

It was a white-knuckle finish, but Hadwin closed with just enough to hold off a hard-charging Patrick Cantlay through one of golf’s toughest closing stretches to pick up his first PGA Tour victory. An even-par 71 was just enough to get it done for Hadwin, sealing the deal with a par on the 72nd hole after Cantlay gave ground and stumbled to a bogey. But for a time through the difficult finishing stretch at the Innisbrook Copperhead course, it didn’t look like it would be easy.

In only his second start back after a 27-month absence from the PGA Tour, the world’s 1,419th-best player fired a 4-under-par 67 to nearly win Sunday at the Valspar Championship for his first PGA Tour victory. And what a long road it’s been to get back to a stage he long seemed destined to dominate.

The former UCLA top amateur was golf’s Next Big Thing in 2011 and 2012. He won almost every award and honor available for amateur players through those two years — low amateur at the US Open and Masters, the Nicklaus Award, the Haskins, the Hogan.

Therefore, I’ve given Duke the nod as the final top seed at the top of the South regional. North Carolina ranks fifth overall, which means they’re destined for the Midwest. As the top No. 2 seed, the Tar Heels cannot be sent to the closest available region, the East, since the Villanova Wildcats, the No. 1 overall seed, are already there. Bracketing rules also require that they’re separated from Duke. So it’s a possible Elite Eight matchup with the Kansas Jayhawks for Roy Williams’ squad.

With that determination made and my bubble choices made earlier this afternoon, here’s my final projected bracket of the 2016-17 season.4

Last franchise quarterback: With this iteration of the Browns, there legitimately hasn’t been one.

The Patriots don’t typically spend money on runners, but Lacy’s unimpressive last two seasons in Green Bay have driven his value down. New England has a pair of effective backs under contract in Dion Lewis and James White, but neither is the pile-driving, hard-nosed runner that Lacy is at 235-plus pounds. Lacy is more than just a dynamic ball carrier, though; he caught 77 passes his first two seasons — years in which he also ran for more than 1,100 yards.

Lacy brings injury concerns, but at just 26 years old he could be set to bounce back and regain the form that made him a Pro Bowler as a rookie. He may not fit the Patriots’ typical free agent standard, but if the price is right he could be an upgrade, or an insurance policy, for an aging Blount. With just $3 million invested in tailbacks for 2017, the time could be right for New England to make an investment.

Needless to say, none of those options, nor any of the other 24 quarterbacks who have started games for the Browns over the past 17 seasons, have developed into franchise quarterbacks. Better luck this year, Browns.

Last franchise quarterback: With this iteration of the Browns, there legitimately hasn’t been one. You have to go back to the days before Art Modell moved the franchise to Baltimore to become the Ravens, to find a franchise quarterback. Cleveland had a pretty good stretch from 1986 to 1995 between Bernie Kosar and Vinny Testaverde, and then, of course, the team moved to Baltimore. Classic Browns.

The good news for the Browns or any other team looking for help at the position is that there are some reasonably decent options likely to be available in free agency. None of them measure up to “franchise” status, but some of them are at least better than Ryan Fitzpatrick.4

3 things we learned from Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 win over Benfica

Borussia Dortmund booked their place in the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday, overturning a 1-0 first leg defeat with a 4-0 win at home to Benfica. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed a hat trick after a Christian Pulisic strike broke the visitors’ stubborn resistance early in the second half, with the final score eventually flattering the victors.

Benfica supporters were left fearing the worst when their first leg lead was nullified within five minutes of kickoff. An Ousmane Dembélé corner was flicked on at the near post by Pulisic and kicked in at the far post by an unmarked Aubameyang. It was a goal of embarrassing simplicity, and it doubtlessly gave Dortmund the early momentum.

But despite seeing plenty of possession in the following few minutes, the hosts struggled to create anything with it. The longer the half wore on, the more Benfica grew in confidence, their superb organization giving rise to slightly more attacking swagger. Their first great chance came midway through the opening period, though Nélson Semedo’s low cross was met by a tame effort by Franco Cervi, and Roman Bürki got down to save.

Any other year, those top line mates would be great for Sheahan. But Larkin and Tatar are both struggling this season, a big reason why the Red Wings are out of the playoff race. When put together, that trio is at 48 percent in Corsi For and just doesn’t generate much offensively.

Sheahan played a lot more with Gustav Nyquist last season with great results: a 54 CF% and 12 points for Sheahan when they played together. He only put up four points and 12 shots on net with limited time alongside Larkin last year … and has just three points on 26 shots with lots of time with Larkin this year. It’s almost like there’s a ceiling there.4

Utah had great ball movement on offense and Brooklyn’s defense never got the Jazz out of rhythm

George Hill scored a season-high 34 points and the Utah Jazz handled the Brooklyn Nets wire-to-wire in a 112-97 victory Friday night.

The Jazz snapped a two-game losing streak and extended their lead for the No. 4 Western Conference playoff spot by 1 1/2 games over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Utah put the game away with a 19-5 stretch in the third quarter, capped by Rudy Gobert’s alley-oop dunk from Dante Exum.

Utah had great ball movement on offense and Brooklyn’s defense never got the Jazz out of rhythm. On the other end, Quincy Acy scored a season-high 18 points for the Nets and Brook Lopez had 17 — the only Nets to consistently get anything going on the offensive end.

Willis has done a lot this offseason to improve his stock and feels like someone who could land squarely in the middle of the second round, if not higher should he continue to dominate leading up to the draft.

Jabrill Peppers: The ultimate position-less player initially worked out with the linebackers on Sunday and will also work out with the defensive backs on Monday. This was actually a net positive for Peppers, because his athleticism is just different than “normal” linebackers and, certainly, defensive linemen. His 40-yard dash time of 4.46 was the fifth-fastest by a linebacker since 2000, and he just looked substantially quicker than everyone else on the field in drills.

Reddick would have been the fastest linebacker if you move him to LB (where he’ll probably play) and move Jabrill Peppers to safety (where he’ll probably play). Reddick generally looked like an athletic freak and is a perfect example of someone utilizing the opportunity to boost his stock.

On the bright side, Tomsula was having some fun out there and clearly looks like he’s enjoying life more than he was the last time we really saw him, when the 49ers were canning him after just a single year of being the head coach.4

MLS Week 1 preview and fixtures: Timbers vs. Minnesota opens a great week of games

Check out our big MLS season preview here!

Week 1 of the MLS season has finally arrived. You can expect goals in the season opener, where two teams that have very good attackers and questionable defenses face off. Things get a bit more organized after that — we think.

Here’s everything you need to know about the first week of the season, what to watch for and how to watch it.

If you’re new to MLS, all non-national TV, out of market games can be seen online at MLS Live. It costs $80 for the whole season and features archives, highlights, and a really nice 10-minute extended highlights cut for all of the games. In-market and national TV games become available after 48 hours.

The 40-yard dash is an overblown endeavor, but if there is a player who needs a good one, it is Smith-Schuster. At 6’2 and 220 pounds, Smith-Schuster is obviously a well-built wide receiver. One of his flaws, however, is his speed. He can help himself if he can break into the range of 4.5 seconds. Teams will closely be watching the junior’s footwork as well because he tends to be a little awkward at the top of his routes.

Dupre has first-round talent, but in 2016 he had mid-round production. Until pulling in seven catches for 139 yards, he had just 34 receptions for 454 yards and three touchdowns on the season. It wasn’t much fault of his own, however. As a team last season LSU threw less than 300 passes on the season, and the team’s quarterback play was often spotty. At the combine, Dupre will need a good week showing off his measurables and ability to catch the ball.4

Ravens attempt to disassemble ESPN report, point by point

The Baltimore Ravens have released statements from various employees refuting the ESPN Outside the Lines report that the team was aware of the security footage that showed Ray Rice knocking his then-fiancee Janay Palmer unconscious in an elevator in February.

In the statement released through the team’s website, owner Steve Bisciotti has claimed that ESPN’s sources for the report were members of Rice’s legal team attempting to clear the running back’s name before he makes his case for reinstatement into the NFL. ESPN claims that isn’t true.

The Outside the Lines report claimed that it “found a pattern of misinformation and misdirection employed by the Ravens and the NFL” since Rice’s arrest in February. The report alleges that the team had full knowledge of what occurred within the elevator before a second tape was leaked by TMZ that showed Rice punching his fiancee.

However, under new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, Tannehill has regressed. Lazor came over this offseason from Chip Kelly’s offensive machine in Philadelphia. But outside of a 33-point Week 1 showing against the lackluster New England Patriots defense, Miami’s offense has sputtered out, producing only 25 points in its last two games combined. Tannehill, a Texas A&M product, is on pace to set career lows in completion percentage (56.5), and yards per pass attempt (5.0). Tannehill’s struggles on deep passes have been a source of considerable frustration for Miami, especially when considering the resources the team has poured into its wide receivers.

Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense is nearly being stripped away completely, and it’s something a better offense is going to exploit sooner or later. Right?

Example: Smith threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown on the Jets’ first drive.4
